Hong Kong - Mainland Joint Business Liaison Committee          

To strengthen the trade and economic relations between Mainland and Hong Kong, The China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) signed a co-operation agreement with the Chinese General Chamber of Commerce, the Federation of Hong Kong Industries, the Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce and the Chinese Manufacturers' Association of Hong Kong on April 5, 2001 in Beijing to form the Hong Kong-Mainland Joint Business Liaison Committee.

The primary objectives of the Committee are: (1) to establish an effective channel to disseminate policy information to the Hong Kong business community; (2) to provide inquiry services for Hong Kong and Mainland enterprises on matters related to trade and investment; (3) to collect and convey opinion to the government bodies in order to promote the development of economic and trade relations between Mainland and Hong Kong; (4) to assist in trade/economic dispute cases. The Committee hosts a website and operates a telephone hotline service (2117-1221) to provide updated information on Mainland's economic, trade, taxation, customs, investment policies and rules to the business communities. Typical cases of economic dispute settlement will also be listed on the website for public reference.

The participating organisations of the Liaison Committee in Hong Kong include the Chinese General Chamber of Commerce, the Federation of Hong Kong Industries, the Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce and the Chinese Manufacturers' Association of Hong Kong. Each chamber will take turns to serve as the Hong Kong Secretariat for two years. The Mainland Secretariat is represented by CCPIT. The Chinese General Chamber of Commerce has taken the role of the Hong Kong Secretariat for the year 2018-2019. The new Chairman of the HK Committee (11th term) is now Dr Jonathan Choi, Chairman of the Chinese General Chamber of Commerce.
